Our Embassy is delighted to share the news that Melka Kunture has been registered as a world heritage site in Balchit Archaeology.
 
In the 46th annual conference of UNESCO World Heritage Center in New Delhi, India, the Melka Kunture Balchit has been registered as a World Heritage Site in the field of Archaeology and Paleontology.
 
The site is located 50 kilometres from Addis Abab features stone tools and remains dating back 2.5 million years, highlighting its archaeological and paleontological significance. And it is Ethiopia’s 12 th UNESCO listed sites.
