Location: Ethiopia is located in the horn of Africa. Share borders with Eritrea in the North, Djibouti and Somalia in the East, Sudan and South Sudan in the West and Kenya in the South

Area: The total area of Ethiopia is 1, 127, 127 square kilometres 10th in Africa.

Climate: The climate in Ethiopia varies tremendously depending on elevation. There are two major seasons: the dry season prevails from October through May; the wet season runs from June to September

Economy: about 80% of the Ethiopia’s economy is based on agriculture, which accounts 46% of GDP and 85% of total employment. .

Population: The population is estimated at 126 million the 2nd in Africa continent, next to Nigeria.

Language: Amharic, Oromigna, Tigrigna, Afar and Somali are Ethiopians official language, but Amharic is the most widely spoken. Others include Guragigna, Somali and Arabic. English is the major language taught in schools and widely spoken. There are more than 83 languages with 200 dialects spoken in the country.

Ethnicity: Ethiopia is a multi-ethnic state, more than 80 ethnic groups. The Oromo, Amhara, Somali, Tigray, and Sidama are the majorities.

Religion: Major religions in the country are Christianity and Islam.

Currency: The local currency is the Ethiopian Birr (ETB). Birr notes are available in denominations of 5, 10, 50, 100 and 200. Visitors may import an unlimited amount of foreign currency but this must be declared on arrival to the custom authorities. Exchange of foreign currency only via authorized banks and organizations.

Visitors are encouraged to use EAL for their international flights since priority is given to these clients when flying on the domestic circuit. EAL reaches four destinations in India; Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai.  Most travel between major towns and sites       in Ethiopia is easily accessible by air and prices are relatively cheap by international standards. Cuisine:  Ethiopia is a haven for vegetarians. It’s a great place to visit if you’re a vegetarian. Many Ethiopians follow an Orthodox Christianity religion which prohibits eating any animal products on Wednesday and Friday, which means you’ll almost always find vegetarian dishes on the menu.

Health: On entering Ethiopia all visitors must be in possession of a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate. In addition, immunization against the following is strongly recommended: Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus, Typhoid and Polio.

Visa: all Indian can get Tourist visa on arrival and Online. The visa on arrival is a type of travel authorization which can be obtained at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport after visitors arrive in Ethiopia.
