The Embassy in collaboration with the Indian Chamber of International Business (ICIB) organised India-Ethiopia Tourism Meet entitled ‘Ethiopia – The Land of Origins” on April 25th 2024 in New Delhi.
 
While welcoming the participants, H.E. Demeke presented Ethiopia’s leading tourist destinations with special focus on Ethiopia’s UNESCO Cultural World Heritage sites, underscoring diverse aspect of tourism that the country offers including Historical and Heritage tourism, Cultural and Ecological tourism, and Natural and Leisure tourism. Highlighting Ethiopia as land of origins being origin of human beings, origin of River Nile and origin of coffee, he invited the Indian travellers to experience soul enriching wonders, cultural mosaic, unforgettable adventures and wildlife as well as Ethiopia’s wealth of discovery.
 
With regard to connectivity and ease of travel, the Ambassador stated that Ethiopian Airlines is flying from 4 cities of India i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore by connecting India not only with Ethiopia but also with 64 cities in Africa.
 
Mr. Manpreet Singh, President of ICIB delivered speech on factors to visit Ethiopia, referring the country as history and nature lovers’ paradise and stressed the need to forge ties with Ethiopian tour operators to enhance cooperation between the countries in tourism sector.
 
Mr. Puneet Singh, Vice President of ICBC, extended gratitude to all participants and expressed the readiness of the Chamber to conduct similar programs aimed at business investment opportunities.
The event was attended by more than 50 Indian travel and tour agents as well as travel writers. A video showcasing Ethiopia’s tourism potential describing 16 UNESCO registered cultural sites as well as the newly build parks such as Friendship and Unity parks, Wonchi and Halalla eco-tourism parks were also presented.
